Funding Detection
Find funded PhD supervisors by connecting public awards, project timelines and vacancies without assuming an opening.
A grant is one link in a longer evidence chain
Funding records become useful when they connect to a real investigator, a live project period and a plausible staffing need. The final link still requires a vacancy or direct confirmation.
Award record
Funder, amount, program and official project description.
Principal investigator
The named researcher and the institution responsible for the work.
Project period
Start date, end date, current status and the work the award supports.
Capacity hypothesis
A reasoned possibility that the project may support people or training.
Confirmation
A live vacancy, official studentship or direct answer from the program.
The same word, funded, can hide very different situations

- Project runs for four years
- Research topic is a close fit
Responsible interpretation
Promising context. The project may create capacity, but the award alone does not prove that a student line is open or that the PI controls all hiring.What a public award can and cannot tell you

Country-specific caveats change the meaning of funding
These are orientation notes, not financial or immigration advice. Always read the official opportunity and the university's current terms.

How to investigate a promising funding trail
- Open the original award.
Record the funder, award number, PI, institution, start date and end date.
- Read the project purpose.
Look for the scientific work, training component and named collaborators.
- Check for a hiring route.
Search the lab, department and institutional jobs page for a current vacancy.
- Map the applicant rules.
Verify degree level, residency, tuition, stipend, employment and deadline terms.
- Ask only what is still unknown.
Contact the program or PI with a narrow question grounded in the official source.
