Our story

We built the tool we wish we'd had.

We started as three classmates from Sharif University of Technology, widely regarded as Iran's top engineering school, dreaming about graduate study abroad. We had the drive; what we didn't have was a path.

Like most applicants, we were overwhelmed. Where do you even begin? Which programs fit your background? Which professors are taking students? We spent months building spreadsheets, scanning lab pages, and cold-emailing into the void. Only later did we realize the hard truth: there were far more relevant professors and labs than we could possibly find by hand.

Eventually, persistence paid off. We secured offers, and more than $300,000 in funding, from universities including Calgary, McMaster, Glasgow, Western, KTH, and Sorbonne. Along the way we learned the full admissions journey: the timing, the unwritten rules, the pitfalls, and how to tell your story so it lands.

But we also learned something else: the problem isn't talent; it's discovery. Time is limited; opportunities are endless. Great matches are missed every day.

So we built ApexApply, the tool we wish we'd had.

ApexApply uses a clever, AI-powered matching engine to connect your background and CV with professors and labs that genuinely fit. No more endless tabs. No more guessing. And because guidance matters as much as search, we offer one-to-one mentorship with students and researchers across top universities worldwide. Ask the real questions. Learn from real experience. Move with confidence.

Today, we're PhD and master's students paying forward what we learned: the wins, the missteps, and the shortcuts we wish someone had shared with us. If you're ready to turn “where do I start?” into “this is my plan,” we're here to help you find your fit.
